For techies in the making

Is Bill Gates your hero and is coding your second nature? Or have you always been more interested in taking apart your cell phone to see how it works? If yes, then you are probably hell-bent on becoming an engineer.

But the All India Engineering Entrance Examination or AIEEE as it’s known, is no cakewalk. Usually held at the end of April each year, it requires months of hard work and perseverance and most importantly, you have to make sure that you have the right strategies in place. And why not? This exam could open up a vista of opportunities with plenty of lucre thrown in.

Just so that you don’t feel overwhelmed by the workload, www.aieee.nic.in helps you steer your way successfully towards your goal. Though the website isn’t as ‘technical’ as it should be, it compensates by being informative. It provides help with filling up the form which is a big relief, considering that the application form is couched in a language that’s not always easily decipherable. It also offers the option of applying online and lays down clearly the eligibility, tentative dates of examinations, admit card details, etc.

The website also gives a detailed syllabus for each individual subject. And it throws light on the concept of negative marking. The best part is that each new topic is displayed in a separate window and as a result, multiple searches can be done at the same time. There’s also a list of FAQs that will be useful for the confused student.

However, what’s lacking is that there are no sample papers to guide the AIEEE aspirants. A section where successful candidates share their winning strategies would also be a welcome feature.
