Deep still optimistic

Calcutta: With a mountain of 137 runs to climb, tourists Bengal are down but not out.

Oozing positive vibes, skipper Deep Dasgupta, at the close of Day Two, feels they still have chance to log that crucial two points (with a first innings lead), so vital in their encounter against Hyderabad.

Asked whether he was unhappy at Bengal’s top-order failure, Deep was quick to reply: “We are disappointed, yes… but we don’t rule this match out.

“Things are not over yet. We all know Sourashish (Lahiri) (who is batting on one with Ashok Dinda on 26) can bat. Also, Rana (Ranadeb Bose) can chip in with useful knock. So you never know…”

But the wicket? Deep feels there’s nothing much there. “It is still a good wicket to bat on.”

At the moment, it’s fingers crossed for Deep & Co.
