Ten Ways The World Will End

It’s about: A favourite topic with science fiction writers and filmmakers; it seems nothing could be more thrilling than an action-packed global apocalypse. This is the twilight zone of factual programmes — the ‘Far Side’ of science TV. This episode examines the likelihood of 10 possible global disasters, from manic killer robots and super volcanoes to an alien invasion and mutant psycho humans. Discovery; 10pm

Pride and Prejudice

It’s about: Jane Austen’s enduring novel gets an excellent interpretation on the big screen. The Bennet family, headed by patriarch Mr Bennet along with the rest of the town, awaits the arrival of two newcomers — the wealthy Mr Bingley and his friend, Mr Darcy. When Lizzie Bennet meets Mr Darcy, their encounter is fraught with animosity. But subsequent events bring them together and their feelings for each other begin to develop. Mr Bingley also strikes up a romance with Lizzie’s sister Jane. Whom to watch: Keira Knightley shines as the beautiful and opinionated Lizzie, and the chemistry between her character and Macfadyen’s Mr Darcy is unmistakable. Also, starring Golden Globe and Emmy Award winner Donald Sutherland as the patriarch Mr Bennet. HBO; 9pm

Falcon Beach

It’s about: Every summer, the sleepy New England town of Falcon Beach ignites, and the surf and sand aren’t the only things heating up. When the townies and the rich kids who summer at Falcon Beach collide, the sparks fly. The rest of the year, they live in different worlds, but come summer they share a strip of the beach where anything can happen. People fall in love, fall out of love, get into trouble and take risks they never thought they would. STAR World; 8pm

Shaadi Se Pehle

It’s about: Ashish Kapoor and Rani are a couple who are pretty much in love. But Ashish has a problem , at the slightest level of tension, he needs to pop a pill to unrattle his shaken nerves. This comes to the notice of Rani’s family members who in turn try to separate them. Whom to watch: This hilarious comedy stars Akshaye Khanna and Ayesha Takia. Max; 1pm
