Pride and Prejudice

It’s about: Jane Austen’s enduring novel gets an excellent interpretation on the big screen. The Bennet family, headed by patriarch Mr Bennet along with the rest of the town, awaits the arrival of two newcomers — the wealthy Mr Bingley and his friend, Mr Darcy. When Lizzie Bennet meets Mr Darcy, their encounter is fraught with animosity. But subsequent events bring them together and their feelings for each other begin to develop. Mr Bingley also strikes up a romance with Lizzie’s sister Jane. Whom to watch: Keira Knightley shines as the beautiful and opinionated Lizzie, and the chemistry between her character and Macfadyen’s Mr Darcy is unmistakable.
