Mrittika and Swagatalakshmi in Katha

Katha, directed by Shankha Ghosh, is a story revolving around the life of a girl called Katha played by newcomer Mrittika. The mid-path film is about Katha’s life, her feelings, her companionship, her love, and all that pitted against the slandering and narrowminded society.

The cast of the film includes veteran singers Kabir Suman and Swagatalakshmi. This is Swagatalakshmi’s debut stint on the bigscreen, though Suman has been since recently in a small cameo. Suman and Swagata play Katha’s parents. The tale traces the triumph of a woman over all the resistance that comes from a society that refuses to accept the real you. This strength Katha acquires from her inner sensitivity and her undying love for her man.

Kabir Suman is also the music director of this film with Swagatalakshi lending her voice, too.
