glued in

A dog’s day

Have you heard about Reggie, the black Labrador retriever, who swallowed a quarter of a bottle of glue? Reggie had swallowed the glue two weeks ago and is now recovering from surgery. The glue had turned into foam in its stomach and had expanded when mixed with food and fluid inside, before hardening . X-rays showed two large masses in the dog’s abdomen. Mark Reineck, a veterinarian of Fremont Animal Hospital, Ohio, who operated on the dog, removed two stiff globs, one the size of an orange and the other as big as the head of a cauliflower. Reggie is now doing great, while Reineck is hoping that the dog recovers fully from this major operation. Reineck said people needed to be aware of household items that can be attractive but dangerous for pets and children.

tech boom

Net-working

Did you know that the world’s youngest CEO was 14 years old when he launched his IT company? His company was founded in 2000 in San Jose, California in the US as the laws in India did not allow him to set up a company as he was 14 at that time. His first deal was with a cyber cafe owner, where he would go to check his e-mail. He would manage the business during lunch hour in return for free surfing. He learnt a number of softwares and finally started his own website.
