Chinsurah, Feb. 18: Six persons, including a two-year-old, were killed when a truck rammed into a Maruti van on Durgapur Expressway.

Surojit Mitra, 36, was driving from his Belur house to his ancestral home in Birbhum when the accident occurred in Hooghly around 6 pm.

Police said Mitra, his son Benoy, 9, tenants Durga Sahani, 22, and Ashoke Chowdhury, and Ashoke’s daughter Sona and her son were killed.

Mitra’s wife Rasmita, 35, and other sons Badal, 8, and Dinesh, 2, are in hospital.
