We made simple mistakes: Robson

Calcutta: For Sunday’s 1-2 loss against Dempo, the focus is on makeshift coach Robson Mattos more than anyone else.

Notwithstanding the ‘oust-Mattos’ cry from the stands, the Brazilian, however, appeared nonchalant after the match on Sunday.

“It’s not the coach who plays… but the players. My job is to guide them from the sidelines,” is what Mattos had to say. “It’s a game… what can I do when we’ve a centre-half problem?”

Blaming Fabio Vidal for the defence lapse which led to the equaliser, Mattos said: “He did not play well today (Sunday). We made some simple mistakes and conceded the goal.Boys failed to play according to plan… But that cannot be an excuse, we’re a big club.”

Dempo coach Armando Colaco said, “It’s a big victory”
