I would first like to explain the education system
in the UK. There, children must attend a secondary school
and the exam taken at the end of this is called the GCSE
(General Certificate of Secondary Education). Most secondary
schools also have a sixth form, in which children can choose
to stay for another two or three years to study for GCE
(General Certificate of Education) Advanced Levels or A-Levels.
It is a non-compulsory qualification but is often considered
a pre-requisite for university-level study.
Both the above courses are offered for international students who can do it from their own country through international schools that offer equivalent courses that were developed by the University of Cambridge International Examinations (CIE).
If you are looking forward to doing your next level from England so that it helps you to get admission in foreign universities, I would like to mention that your Plus Two from the Central Board/s or a Higher Secondary from state boards with excellent results will not hamper the purpose.
British Council guides students on the scholarships available for studying in the UK. You can contact the British Deputy High Commission, British Council Division, L & T Chambers, 1st Floor, 16 Camac Street, Calcutta- 700 017 for guidance.
