Linc Pen & Plastics Ltd organised the 8th Spel Linc — an all Bengal inter-school spelling competition for students of classes VIII to X at Kala Mandir, Calcutta, on January 22, 2007. The event was hosted by popular RJ Mir. The competition tests the spelling skills of youngsters so as to encourage the habit of reading among them. This year Spel Linc introduced a new format to ensure wider participation. The Wild Card Entries section proved to be popular. The students from each participating school were given a set of spellings and the top three scorers were selected to represent their school at the Spel Linc finals. The three teams with the highest scores were declared winners. The winning teams received the rolling trophy, cash prizes, certificates and gift hampers.
