Governor Gopal Krishna Gandhi opened Jatin Das’s exhibition at CIMA Gallery on Friday evening. This is Das’s first exhibition in Calcutta after a gap of 20 years. The artist was “overwhelmed” by the praise showered on him by every speaker, starting with Governor Gandhi, who hailed Das’s mastery over the “craft of art”. Mrinal Sen, Soumitra Chatterjee, Amala Shankar and Shuvaprasanna were there at the opening of Charged Figures, as was actress-activist Nandita Das, daughter of the artist. Picture by Aranya Sen
