Kill slur on aunt

Krishnagar, March 26: A woman allegedly poisoned her brother- in-law’s son last night because she felt that the family members loved him more than her two-year-old daughter.

Anusura Biwi, 28, of Borogachhi in Nadia’s Nakashipara has been arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the six-month-old victim’s mother.

Farmers’ IT

Durgapur: The government will try to involve farmers in IT. Opening a firm at the software technology park here, industries minister Nirupam Sen said farmers are educated now and jobs should be created for them.

Poet in talks

Calcutta: CPM leader Biman Bose met poet Sankho Ghosh in his house house on Monday evening. Ghosh said Bose explained to him the government’s industrialisation policy but refused to divulge whether he was asked to withdraw his resignation as Natya Akademi vice-president. The poet had hit the streets against the police action in Nandigram.

Porpoise dead

Behrampore: A six-foot porpoise created a flutter near the bank of the Bhagirathi here. Police and forest officials chased away onlookers but the animal was dead by then.
