Sum-fun

Contest calling

There’s a reason why you should look forward to summer this year. Disney Channel has lined up Vicky & Vetal, Hanuman and lots more back to back, from April 16. And wait, there’s a contest too. In the ‘Lose Control’ contest you have to spot your favourite characters in one of the ‘Lose Control moments’ shown daily on the channel. Three winners get to go to Disneyland in Hong Kong. There are also 20 video games to be won everyday and 50 scooties to be won weekly. And there are Disney Channel posters for every entry. Mr Nachiket Pantvaidya, Executive Director, Programming and Production, Walt Disney Television International (India) says that the Lose Control mobile van will be travelling across the cities where you can register to participate in the contest. Have fun this summer.

Something fishy

Have you heard of the fish that’s a 100 years old? A fishing boat in Alaska hauled in what could be the world’s oldest fish. The 44-inch, 60 pound female shortraker rockfish was caught 2,100 feet below the sea, off the Pribilof Islands in the Bering Sea. Scientists at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration at the Alaska Fisheries Science Centre in Seattle, who measured, photographed and documented the fish, estimated it to be around 90 to 115 years old. This fish, however, is not the biggest on record. In fact, the giant shortraker rockfish weighs the same as a small child!
