Amagnificent cover drive, a lofted shot over mid-on, a splendid boundary. Now don’t get confused. These are not shots, which if played by the Men in Blue, could have won us the World Cup. But this is about robots and the largest ever technical fest, Edge’07, held in Calcutta. Held on March 9, 10 and 11, the robots played to their ability and tried cricket, climbed ladders in order to claim victory. This annual technical fest of Techno India was enjoyed thoroughly by students. There were various robotics competitions like howzzat, speed and ladder climber.
Apart from this there were numerous gaming competitions like NFS, Counterstrike and the FIFA. There were other interesting events like mekanix, rags-to-riches and treasure hunts as well. The non-techies were not left out either. There were events like digital photography, face painting and masti ki pathsala. Rakesh and Pragya of Big FM added to the fun.
Amit Kumar Ray, second year, computer science, Techno India
