Choco teeth
All of us love chocolates. And dentists detest them. But the next time the dentist tells you to stay away from chocolates ask him to get his facts straight. For, according to doctoral candidate Arman Sadeghpour at the Tulane University in New Orleans, chocolate toothpaste may actually be good for your teeth. He says that an extract of cocoa powder that occurs naturally in chocolates, tea and other products might be an effective alternative to fluoride in toothpaste. In fact, his research revealed that the cocoa extract was a better alternative to fluoride when it comes to fighting cavities. The experiment, so far conducted on animals, might take another three years before it can be approved for human use. This extract helps to harden teeth enamel, making users less susceptible to tooth decay.

Happy feet
A magellan penguin has travelled thousands of miles from its home in southern Chile and has reached Perus coast. Scientists in Peru are quite surprised by this unusual visit and believe that the bird must have lost its way while searching for food and become confused with various ocean currents. The penguin has also sustained an injury on its right wing, and is being treated for it by the scientists at the National Paracas Reserve in southern Peru. Talks are on with the Chilean government to return the bird to its lost home.
