Tune’s not enough

The national anthem of Spain might finally get lyrics. The Spanish parliament arrived at this decision after complaints by sportsmen who wanted to sing at important sporting events. Spanish athletes embrace, hum or gaze silently at the sky, while their national anthem is played. This leaves them in an uncomfortable situation, compared to others whose national anthems have lyrics. Spain’s national anthem is one of the oldest in the world, dating back to the 18th century, but it has never had any lyric in it. The Spanish Opposition said that it would formulate a bill asking a committee to produce some lyrics within three months. However, writing lyrics for a diverse country like Spain, might be a job easier said than done.

Airport mayhem

Recently, authorities at the Linate airport in Milan were driven up the wall by a drove of hares. The animals brought work at the airport to a standstill as they had a fun time hopping about the runway. Landings and takeoffs were disturbed considerably. In fact, the airport had to be shut down for three hours, while the animals were caught by hassled airport authorities. Finally, the bunch of swift feet were sent off to a wildlife preserve, where it is hoped that they will have a better time.
