I Think
Is the police top brass biased against women in high posts?

Yes, the fact that Kiran Bedi, possibly the most well-known female IPS officer, was passed over for promotion to the post of Delhi comissioner of police, makes it clear that women in the force are discriminated against even today.

Yes. Kiran Bedi is an example. She is a victim of the politics played by the big bosses who have violated all norms of selection.

Pankaj Khanna
Bhowanipore College, Calcutta

Judging by what happened to Kiran Bedi, an honest and efficient officer, I definitely agree with the contention.

Rajesh Beriwal
St Xaviers College, Calcutta

Yes. the Police top brass is trying to prove that they are unbiased by flaunting the fact that 20 women officers graduated from the IPS academy this year but that is hogwash.

Priyanka Velath
New Delhi

No. Men too get passed over for promotion. This is more of a lobby issue than a gender issue.
