Adhir case

Calcutta, Aug. 27: The government today got the high court’s green signal to appeal a trial court’s acquittal of the murder-accused MP, Adhir Chowdhury.

The Congress leader had been charged with plotting the killing of a father and son in Beh-rampore in July 2005.

Rape bid

Howrah: Two persons were held in an industrial complex in Sankrail for allegedly trying to rape three women who came to work as labourers. Police said Ranjit, Ramswaran and three others had served them tea laced with drugs.
