Glorious granny

There’s no stopping Ruth Frith. She is a 98-year-old woman who loves to compete in athletic events and doesn’t consider retirement an option. At 98, the great granny is still going strong and is all prepared to participate in the 2008 Sports Meet to be held in Sydney. Ruth used to travel across the world taking part in various sports meets and also holds world records in javelin, hammer throw and weight pentathlon. She can do long jumps, triple jumps, 100-metre sprints and shot put with effortless skill. However, the sports authorities are finding it exceedingly difficult to find other grannies who are equally enthusiastic about sports and competition. Here’s wishing luck to this grand old lady.
