PM cheques

Akola, Aug. 30 (PTI): Two cheques distributed to debt-ridden farmers under a special package for Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region have bounced, officials said today.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to review the package tomorrow.

The cheques, amounting to Rs 350 and Rs 15,000, bounced in Washim district, the officials said.

Farmer Bhaurao Sakharam Ingole of Hivralahe village received a cheque for Rs 350 thrice. It bounced every time, they said. Another farmer, Manik Shaligram Lasankute from Virgawhan village, also could not encash his cheque for Rs 15,000 to buy a pair of bullocks.
