Calcutta: Union sports minister Mani Shankar Aiyar wasn’t too pleased with the state of the Salt Lake Stadium. “It pains me to see the condition of the stadium… This is one of the biggest in Asia. I will speak to Jyotirmoyee Sikdar on this,” Aiyar said.

Asian Games gold-medallist Sikdar, a Member of Parliament, was present on the occasion. Ironically, state sports minister Subhas Chakraborty left just after after Aiyar’s speech.
