10 hurt in brawl at mall

Patna, Sept. 17: Some 10-odd people, including six from an electronic media house, were injured in a pitched battle between the media and shopping mall staff at Frazer Road here today.

The fight ensued when the mall’s manager and staff tried to prevent a TV crew from shooting a fire that occurred on mall premises due to a short-circuit. The staff pounced on cameramen and reporters, eyewitnesses said. The fight that happened on the streets left 10, including six mediapersons, hurt. The injured have been admitted to Patna Medical College Hospital (PMCH). All are stated to be out of danger by the doctors attending to them. Soon, police riot van arrived and the force resorted to batons to scatter the mob.

Later, the TV crew sat on a dharna in front of the mall demanding that Nitish Kumar take action against “erring” shopkeepers and policemen who used force on the crew.
