Suicide arrest

Mumbai, Sept. 18 (PTI): Four recovery agents of ICICI Bank were today arrested on the charge of abetting a suicide, police said.

Prakash Sarvankar, 38, who had taken a Rs 50,000 loan from the bank, killed himself after the recovery agents visited his Andheri house yesterday. The unemployed man had allegedly defaulted on instalment payment.

Border talks

Beijing (PTI): The next round of boundary talks between India and China will be held from September 24-26. India’s national security adviser M.K. Narayanan and China’s vice-foreign minister Dai Bingguo will meet in Beijing.

Militants die

Srinagar (PTI): Five militants, including two Jaish-e-Mohammad commanders, were killed in separate gun battles with security forces in Bandipora district on Tuesday. They were identified as divisional commander Abu Bakar of Pakistan and district commander Mohammad Tariq of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Pipe burst

Idukki (PTI): Four persons were killed in this Kerala district when a water pipe connecting a power house and a dam burst. Three of them were employees of the state electricity board and had been missing since Monday. Their bodies were found trapped in the valve house.

Kidnappings

Etah (PTI): A bank manager and a girl were abducted in this Uttar Pradesh district on Monday. Dipak Gupta, branch manager of a district cooperative bank, was kidnapped on his way to office. The girl was abducted from her house.

WHO centre

Chennai (PTI): The World Health Organisation will set up a Centre of Excellence for Occupational Health here in collaboration with the city-based Sri Ramachandra University. It will be the UN body’s second such centre in India after Ahmedabad’s National Institute of Occupational Health.
