royal curse

Ghost from the past

It’s time for revenge! A few days ago, in Berlin, a German returned a package containing part of a Pharaonic carving to the Egyptian embassy along with a note. The note said that his late step-father had suffered the “curse of the Pharaohs” for stealing it. The man returned the carving to make amends for the mistakes of his step-father so that his soul could rest in peace. The man had stolen the antique piece in 2004, while on a visit to the country. But after he returned to Germany, he suffered from unexplained fever, nausea, paralysis and cancer before dying recently. The belief in the curse that kills anyone who disturbs the tombs of the Pharaohs goes back to 1922. It originated when Lord Carnarvon, an Egyptologist, died mysteriously after he entered Tutankhamun’s tomb.
