This carnivorous wild cat roams the North American forests, mountains, swamps and deserts in search of food. The bobcat is named after its thick tail with a black tip and white underside, which seems to be cut off or bobbed!
Though it is only about twice the size of an ordinary domestic cat, the bobcat can kill an animal several times its own size. This powerful cat usually goes after smaller prey, ranging from hares and rabbits to rodents and birds. If needed, it can jump to a height of 10 feet to catch its prey.
A bobcat is usually a solitary creature and lives for a span of 10-12 years in the wild. A unique feature of this cat, apart from its soft, tan fur spotted with black, is its tufted ears.
