Nalco net dips 26%

Bhubaneswar, Oct. 24: National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) has clocked a net profit of Rs 439.73 crore during the quarter ended September 30 against Rs 595 crore a year ago, a decline of 26.06 per cent.

According to unaudited financial results for the quarter, announced at the board meeting held in Vishakhapatnam yesterday, the company has posted a sales turnover of Rs 1,432.12 crore compared with Rs 1582.65 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

Net profit for the half year stood at Rs 886.39 crore against Rs 1,217.3 crore a year ago. Sales turnover for the period was Rs 2,719.24 crore compared with 3,203.47 crore.

The company said lower global alumina prices and the rising rupee caused the lower realisation. Supply of coal was also hampered in the second quarter.
