New Delhi, Oct. 24 (PTI): Indias ambassador to the US Ronen Sen has been summoned before the privileges committees of both Houses of Parliament for his headless chickens remark.
The members of Parliament had thought that Sen — quoted in an interview at a time the debate on the India-US nuclear deal was at its stormiest — was referring to the opponents of the agreement.
But the ambassador later clarified that he was talking about his media friends.
Sen will have to appear before the Lok Sabha panel on October 29 and the Rajya Sabha committee on November 2.
Why do you have all this running around like headless chickens, looking for a comment here or comment there, and these little storms in a tea cup, Sen had said, sparking an uproar in both Houses.
The decision to summon him before the privileges committee of the Upper House was taken recently at a meeting presided over by deputy chairman K. Rahman Khan.
