Big victory for Bengal women
Bengal women beat Assam by an innings and 219 runs in the Senior Women’s Cricket League match in Kalyani on Wednesday. Continuing her fine bowling performance, Bengal skipper Jhulan Goswami claimed four for five as Assam were bundled out for a paltry ’s 62 in their second innings.

Debarata Das Das (70) and Partha Sarathi Bhattacharya (57) helped Bengal to notch up 262 for seven and take a 75-run first innings lead over Jharkhand in the Col C.K. Nayudu (U-22) Trophy four-day cricket tournament in Krishnanagar on Wednesday.

Howrah District Boxing Association logged 17 points to emerge champions in the 40th State Junior Boxing Championship for boys’. The meet was organised by the Bengal Amateur Boxing Association from October 16-17. Kidderpore SOPC settled for the runners up position with 11 points.
