Court boycott

New Delhi, Dec. 2 (PTI): The Delhi Bar Association has decided to boycott the court of a magistrate who has sentenced 19 lawyers to six months in jail.

“We are going to boycott the court of metropolitan magistrate Sandeep Yadav,” the association said. Yadav jailed the lawyers for rioting in court against the bifurcation order of Delhi High Court in February 2006.

Bhajan Lal

Rohtak (PTI): Bhajan Lal and his son Kuldeep Bishnoi today quit the Congress and launched a new outfit, Haryana Janhit Congress. The veteran leader had been nursing a grudge for not being made Haryana chief minister. At a rally on chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s home turf, Lal, 77, did not speak, but Bishnoi, the Lok Sabha MP from Bhiwani, criticised Sonia Gandhi.

Bus in gorge

Rampur (PTI): Sixteen members of a marriage party were killed and a boy injured when their vehicle fell into a gorge here. All the bodies have been recovered and the boy has been hospitalised. The district administration has announced a relief of Rs 6,000 for the families of the dead.

Kanha death

Mandla (PTI): Shyam Singh Gaud, 40, a fodder cutter at the Kanha National Park was mauled to death by a tiger in the reserved forest area on Sunday, police said.

Student killed

Srinagar (PTI): A student of a Muslim religious school was kidnapped and murdered by militants in Baramulla district on Sunday. The body of Shahzad Ahmad Pala, a student of Dar-ul-Uloom, was found with the throat slit. A chit lying near the body claimed that he was a police informer.
