Hazel Blears, the communities secretary, said English should be used wherever possible to make it easier for immigrants to integrate into society.

Nagpur (PTI): A housewife was duped out of Rs 91,380 by four persons, probably foreigners. Urmila Sanjiv Wasnik received an email saying she had won $100,000 in a lottery and was fooled into depositing the money in an account with ICICI bank.

Wait reward

Kanpur (PTI): The Uttar Pradesh government has awarded a compensation of Rs 5,000 to each of the 48 schoolchildren, who had fainted from dehydration while waiting for Samajwadi Party leaders Amar Singh and Jayaprada at a Gandhi Jayanti programme.
