Jodhaa ban stay

New Delhi, March 4: The Supreme Court today stayed all executive orders banning Jodhaa Akbar in some north Indian states.

The interim stay will be in place till March 14, a bench headed by Chief Justice K.G. Balakrishnan said while hearing a prayer filed by UTV Software Limited, producer and distributor of the movie, for relief.

Dowry cuffs

Jaipur (PTI): A man has been arrested for allegedly marrying three girls and then deserting them for failing to meet his dowry demands, police said on Tuesday. Tarun Sindhi was arrested along with his father, said to be his accomplice, on Sunday following a complaint lodged last October by one of the “wives”.

Recruiter rap

Bangalore (PTI): Police have nabbed a person for allegedly duping young graduates by promising them jobs in MNCs like Accenture and Sharp in lieu of money. The police said they have seized Rs 8.25 lakh and electronic goods worth Rs 15,000 from the accused, Vinceraj Solomon.

Raj notice

Mumbai (PTI): Mumbai police on Tuesday asked Raj Thackeray why the gag order issued after his comments against north Indian migrants should not be extended while Pune police restricted him from addressing public rallies in the city till March 13.

Barak probe

New Delhi (PTI): The CBI has questioned former navy chief Admiral Sushil Kumar on alleged irregularities in the purchase of seven Barak missile systems from Israel during the NDA rule. Sources said he was questioned about purchasing them despite DRDO’s objection and the alleged presence of middle men at the house of the then defence minister, George Fernandes.

Bribe net

Akola (PTI): Two employees of the forest department were caught by anti-corruption bureau officials while they were accepting Rs 2,500 as bribe for clearing bills.
