Dupe duo arrested
Tamluk, April 26: A man and a woman who allegedly duped hundreds of students by promising to arrange a talent test for scholarships were arrested here today.
Police said Subhendu Bera and Uma Roy, in their 30s, were part of a fake institute that used to take Rs 400 to Rs 500 as fees for the test. Over 1,500 students of 450 sc-hools in Tamluk, 100km from Calcutta, had paid the fee, said the East Midnapore police chief.
Girl returns
Calcutta: A 17-year-old girl from Jyotish Roy Road in Behala who was allegedly kidnapped on Friday night returned home on Saturday morning. The girl phoned her father and said someone had left her in front of Victoria Memorial.
