Gangster denies link in coach murder

Bhubaneswar, May 9: Police grilled gangster Raja Acharya for hours today, but failed to get any conclusive statement from him.

Raja did not admit to his involvement in the murder during quizzing, that started about 9.30am and continued till the evening. Raja’s counsel, Bana Mohanty, was present during the interrogation today. Police sources said Acharya stuck to his previous statements and pleaded innocence and hinted at a conspiracy hatched to implicate him.

The interrogation will continue till May 11 and the police are thinking to apply for an extension of the remand period and use a narco-analysis test and brain mapping to bring out the truth. Also, the police have speeded up its search for substantial evidence and proofs.

Meanwhile, the crime branch is investigating into the railway scrap deal.

The scrap deal is one of the main angles in the murder, has sought a detailed report from East Coast Railway on scrap disposal process.
