Latin Quarters, the womens Western-wear brand known for its smart, casual and chic party clothing and accessories, has hit the city. Located on the second floor of South City Mall on Prince Anwar Shah Road, it is the brainchild of Ikon Retail Pvt Ltd, and is one of six such stores in the country.
The designing is done primarily in New York and then moderated to Indian requirements, giving the clothes a very international feel, says the store manager.
The look: Like all other Latin Quarters outlets, this store is designed in a posh, understated manner that is apparent from the wooden wall and floor panelling and mellow yellow lighting. The simplicity and lack of clutter, with tasteful old rock classics as background music, make it easy for customers to find their way through the neat rows of clothes and jewellery on display without much distraction. A mannequin in a linen jacket and faux fur hogs centre stage. Clutches, belts and bags share the block.
The collection: Our target customer base is between the ages of 21 and 40 years, who usually prefer a combination of style and comfort, says the store manager.
Cotton, fleece and satin are the fabrics of choice for the fall-winter collection. Giving glitter and bling a miss, simple clean cuts, floral prints and unruffled silhouettes dominate the line.
Western casuals like check shirts, blouses in florals and paisleys, satin and cotton skirts, track pants, zip-up sweatshirts and cute capris with sequins are among the hot picks.
Come winter, and burgundy silk dresses will also feature in the store, in addition to the 60s-style subtly-sequinned georgette and satin dresses. Keeping up with global fashion trends, fawn, brown, beige, military green, black, white, aqua and baby pink are the winter wardrobe hues, which have replaced the brighter summer colour palette.
Beautifully tailored linen coats and short corduroy jackets, fleece jumpsuits, full-sleeved T-shirts, mufflers in rainbow colours and faux fur stoles complete the retro-chic winter collection.
The apparel line starts at Rs 670 and jackets are priced Rs 1,799 onwards. The beaded jewellery, wooden bangles, belts and all-day bags in metallic hues priced between Rs 99 and Rs 3,000 dominate the accessories range in addition to clutches in brown, black, silver and gold.
t2 pick: A black satin short dress with a face printed on it. With black crystals embellishing the boat-neck, this tunic dress is priced at Rs 2,450.
