Taxi hits Kalam convoy car

Calcutta, Dec. 27: A taxi drove into A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s convoy and hit one of the cars, causing a minor security flutter on VIP Road today.

No one was injured.

The former President’s convoy was on its way to the airport when Dular Yadav’s taxi entered it. As a police car that was part of the convoy chased the taxi, Yadav accelerated and hit a vehicle carrying district intelligence officers.

Yadav, who was arrested, is from Bhowanipore. “He said he didn’t know he couldn’t enter a VIP convoy. We are checking his credentials,” said an officer of Lake Town police station. Police sources said the taxi was behind the convoy near the Hudco intersection in Ultadanga but Yadav suddenly accelerated and entered the convoy.
