TELL ME WHY

Why do birds sing? Songbirds use calls and songs the way we use language: to communicate. Calls communicate short, simple messages such as the chicks are hungry or that one bird is looking for another. Songs are usually longer than calls and more complicated and are generally performed by the males. They use it for two things: defending their territory and finding a partner. Songs are also meant to act as a warning when an intruder is nearby.
