Inquizzitive
Derek O'Brien

With all this buzz about 33 per cent reservations for women in Parliament, my mind wanders to a sport I am more familiar with: quizzing. Since that first quiz question was asked at a parish hall in Calcutta 42 years ago, there is evidence to suggest that men do better than ladies in the Q&A game. Don’t get me wrong! I am not for a moment suggesting that gentlemen are know-alls. My theory rests on the premise that male quizzards are better scavengers of trivia, as women get on with the practical joys of life. Now that’s a questionable (pun intended) theory. Next week: India’s Quizzing Ranis.
