The Natural Way

I am a 24-year-old man. I am dark and have very dry skin. How can I get a fair complexion?

Manish Chhetri, Darjeeling

Massage your skin with 1tsp fresh cream. Leave it on for five minutes. This acts as a skin lightener and also moisturises the skin naturally. Make a mask using 2tsp almond paste, 1tsp chiraunji paste, 1tsp honey, a few drops of lemon juice and 1tsp sandalwood powder. Mix to make a smooth paste by adding some milk. Leave this on your skin for about 20 minutes. Use this mask once a week to make your skin fairer and smoother.

I am a 17-year-old girl with medium-length hair. My hair is falling at an alarming rate. I shampoo my hair once a week and also apply henna mixed with one egg every month. But still I have lots of dandruff and my hair is rough hair and has acquired a brownish tinge. How do I get thick, black dandruff-free hair?

The dandruff could well be a result of your lifestyle. So you need to drink lots of water, go for a proper diet, exercise and get enough sleep. It could also be the result of the absence of a hair care programme. Oil your hair at least once a week. This will lessen the dryness and naturally condition the hair. Use warm coconut oil followed with the juice of one lemon on the scalp and then go for turban therapy. Henna is drying your hair, so oil it afterwards. Buy a good quality henna and apply it on your hair twice a month for a deeper colour.
