Right choice

Rituparna Sengupta is fussy when it comes to teaming up with Mithun Chakraborty. The reason? She’s wary of choosing the wrong film! “I get a lot of offers pairing me with Dada (Mithun). But I am choosy because the script has to be special,” Rituparna told t2 from Hyderabad where she is shooting for Partha Ghosh’s Rehmat Ali with Mithun (picture left).

Mithun plays a don (in the film inspired by Ghosh’s Ghulam-E-Musthafa) who falls in love with a bar dancer (Ritupana) in Rehmat Ali. “It’s a very emotional story. My character dies just before tying the knot with him.... Dada keeps pulling my leg. He told me that I should be more punctual on the sets!” laughed Rituparna. “I am also in touch with his family. It’s a relationship we’ve built over the years.”

Byomkesh twice

There’s a twist to Swapan Ghoshal’s Byomkesh Bakshi tale. His Magno Mainak, starring Subhrajit Datta as Byomkesh, is releasing only at Aruna this Friday. Next week, Magno Mainak hits Bharati and Darpana.

“I only got Aruna because films like Dujone and Prem Amar, which were supposed to go off this week, have stayed back for a week more. Since we had decided on November 6 for the release, I decided to go ahead with Aruna. But we will have a proper release next week. We are trying for the multiplexes too,” explained Ghoshal.
