Jamshedpur, Nov. 7: Jamshedpur defeated Bokaro by a huge margin of 208 runs to emerge as the champions of Jharkhand State Cricket Association Under-16 Cricket Tournament at Keenan Stadium today.
Chasing a total of 257, the visitors were shot out for paltry 49 in 18.1 overs. Medium-pacer Supriyo Chakravarty and off-spinner N.N. Subramaniam did the maximum damage by claiming three and four wickets, respectively.
Bokaro always looked in trouble while going in for runs on a wicket which assisted the bowlers. Wickets continued at to fall at regular intervals after the exit of openers Satyam Singh and Sumit Kumar with just two runs on the scoreboard.
Other batsmen failed to rise to the occasion as Jamshedpur bowlers attacked.
Chinks in the Bokaro batting was fully exposed by Supriyo and Subramaniam as they exerted pressure with accurate lines and some brilliant fielding by the hosts.
Anil Kumar Singh (17) was the top scorer for Bokaro. Left-arm spinner Sonu Kumar and seamer Jagdish Pradhan accounted for two and one batsmen, respectively.
Earlier, Jamshedpur, who were overnight 116 for three, resumed second innings with skipper Vishal Singh and Rohit Raja Jha.
The latter was dismissed cheaply for two.
Vishal and Yuvraj Verma tried to add quick runs but failed as the captain edged Ronit Singh to the wicket keeper. He scored 27 off 47 balls with four hits to the fence.
Shailendra Kumar Pandey stayed at the crease for 131 minutes to build the innings and kept the scoreboard ticking. The youngster scored a composed 48 off 118 balls and was instrumental in inching the lead. Jamshedpur was all out for 224. Offie Ronit Singh, an emerging all-rounder from Bokaro, bowled steadily to claim 6/123 while left-arm spinner Chandan Yadav picked 4/44.
JSCA president Amitabh Choudhary and secretary Rajesh Verma along with other functionaries were also present during the match.
