Exam Pattern of SAT 2024
The SAT 2024 consists of two sections: Reading & Writing, and Math. The exam format includes multiple choice questions and student-produced responses. The math section comprises 75% multiple choice questions and 25% student-produced responses, while the Reading & Writing section assesses skills across four domains: Craft and Structure, Information and Ideas, Standard English Conventions, and Expression of Ideas.
Initially conducted as a pencil-paper test, the SAT transitioned to a digital format in 2023. Now categorised as a computer-adaptive test, the digital SAT features a mix of multiple choice questions and student-produced responses. The exam is 2 hours and 14 minutes long, with a 10-minute break. Notably, there is no negative marking for wrong or unattempted questions.
The SAT is a globally recognised standardised exam administered by the College Board, primarily used for undergraduate admissions in universities across the United States and Canada. Several universities in the UK and Australia also accept SAT scores for admissions. The upcoming SAT India exam is scheduled for November 2024.
