Assam University, Silchar (AUS) was established in 1994 under the Assam (Central) University Act of 1989. Situated over 600 acres of sprawling hillocks at Dargakona, 20km away from Silchar, AUS provides an ideal environment for the nurturing of young inquisitive minds.
AUS also has a campus at Diphu, in the Karbi Anglong district of Assam. The autonomous University is recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), Bar Council of India (BCI), and National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
AUS offers over 130 courses on various streams and at different levels, starting from diploma (DIP), to undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), doctorate (PhD) and post-doctorate (D.Litt. and D.Sc.). The UG courses offered by AUS are Bachelor of Performing Arts in Hindustani Classical Music (Vocal), Instrumental Music (Tabla), Dance (Manipuri), and Drama/Theatre Arts; Bachelor of Technology in Agricultural Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering; Bachelor of Vocational Studies in Food Processing, and Farm Machinery and Power Technology; Bachelor of Pharmacy; Bachelor of Visual Arts; Bachelor of Arts in Manipuri; and an integrated course in Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Legislative Law.
The Placement Cell of AUS provides complete placement assistance for all students, with recruiters such as IBM, TCS, Infosys, ORACLE, HCL, Cognizant, IDBI Bank, ICICI Bank, Max Cement, Zolani Tech, UNISYS, Wipro Technology, Thyrocare Tech, HDFC Bank, etc. hiring the final-year students.

Admission to AUS takes place online via the official website, and candidates qualifying Central University Entrance Test are eligible to apply. In order to ensure the holistic development of the students, AUS, provides the best available infrastructure for them to avail.
The Central Library-cum-Computer Centre houses over 147000 books, reports, journals, patents, and other printed texts, and a Digital section that allows access to a vast pool of e-resources. The Library is fully Wi-Fi enabled and has a seating capacity of 300. AUS has its own sports body called the Assam University Sports Board (AUSB) which oversees a huge range of sporting activities offered by AUS. The Campus has provisions for football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, badminton, kabaddi, and kho-kho, as well as 2 fully-equipped indoor gymnasia. AUS has cutting-edge course-specific laboratories for students. AUS Health Centre provides medical services, with permanent medical officers on staff, and round-the-clock ambulance service. Bus services are also provided to and from the Campus, which also houses a post office, telephone exchange, bank, ATM, police outpost, water treatment plants, electric substations, shopping complex, guest house and parks.

Admission Procedure
Admission to Assam University, Silchar takes place online via the official website of AUS. Students are eligible to apply for the various courses offered by AUS only after qualifying the Central University Entrance Test (CUET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) for the undergraduate courses of B.Pharm, BA, BVA, BPA, B.Voc and for B.Tech qualifying marks in Joint Entrance Examination (Main) (JEE-Main) is required.
