SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCB MCH), Cuttack is a government medical college in Cuttack, Odisha affiliated with Utkal University, Bhubaneswar. SCB MCH, Cuttack is recognised and approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC), the Medical Council of India (MCI), and the National Medical Commission (NMC). The medical college is headed by dean and principal Dr. Prasenjeet Mohanty and superintendent Dr. Lucy Das.
SCB MCH, Cuttack was established as a small dispensary and first aid centre in the 19th century, which was later converted into a small hospital after the British forces stationed in Odisha realized its strategic importance. The hospital soon grew into the “Orissa Medical School” in 1875 headed by the then-civil surgeon of Cuttack, Dr Stewart. After several revisions, modifications, and upgrades, the Orissa Medical College was finally instituted on June 1, 1944. The Orissa Medical College was renamed to its current appellation- the “Srirama Chandra Bhanj Medical College” in recognition and honour of Maharaja Srirama Chandra Bhanj Deo’s efforts and donations to the establishment of the institution.
Situated on an expansive 101-acre campus in Cuttack, Odisha, SCB MCH, Cuttack boasts state-of-the-art academic and co-curricular facilities which include well-equipped classrooms, modern course-specific laboratories, an air-conditioned library accommodating 500 people, a well-equipped auditorium, a well-maintained canteen serving diverse foods, and separate fully-furnished hostels accommodating both boys and girls. SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack provides various medical courses and specializations such as M.B.B.S., M.D., M.S., D.M., M.Ch., and diploma courses. SCB MCH has 22 postgraduate departments, 11 super speciality departments, two D.N.B. courses, and seven paramedical courses. Candidates seeking admission to the M.B.B.S, D.Pharm, and BDS programmes need to appear for NEET-UG and secure a valid score/rank; admission into other courses is largely merit-based. Candidates will be admitted based on their entrance marks, participation in the counselling procedure, allocation of seats, document verification, and fee payment.

The student union also organises inter-class competitions every year where the college’s undergraduate students compete with each other in various literary, sporting, and cultural events. Besides academic and research departments, SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack also provides a plethora of medical services with its satellite hospital.
Functioning under the Health and Family Welfare Department of the Government of Odisha, SCB MCH, Cuttack boasts one of the biggest tertiary care hospitals in the country and offers multispeciality patient care with free stay and diagnostic and medical services for patients. Medical services offered include casualty and emergency services, a trauma care centre, OPD services, super-speciality OPD services, indoor patient services, laboratory services, ambulance facilities, and radio diagnostic services.

Admission Procedure
SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack (co-ed) provides a wide range of medical course specialities. Candidates seeking admission to the M.B.B.S, D.Pharm, and BDS programmes need to appear for the National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates (NEET-UG). Final admission will be determined by the marks obtained, participation in the counselling procedure, seat allocation, document verification, and payment of fees. Admission to the other courses is mostly based on merit. Candidates who are interested in applying for admission can do so online.
Doctor of Medicine (DM) and Master of Chirurgiae (M.Ch.) are super speciality courses MD and MS are Master's degree courses offered by the SCBMCH Cuttack. Candidate must hold MD/MS degree from a recognized university/College in order to be eligible for super DM and MCH. And an MBBS degree is required to apply for MD & MS courses. The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) exam is the only way to get admitted. 50% of the available seats are set aside for candidates from the State, and 50% are available through national NEET counselling.
