In a groundbreaking move, nature itself is taking centre stage as an artiste, with Spotify launching a new initiative called Sounds Right. This innovative project aims to raise funds for global conservation efforts by featuring the sounds of ocean waves, wind, rain, thunder, lightning, bird calls and more, alongside music from popular artists.
Under Sounds Right, Nature now has its own artiste page on Spotify, where both new compositions and remixes of older songs are tagged with “Feat. NATURE”. The roster of artistes contributing to this initiative includes legends like David Bowie with Brian Eno, contemporary stars like Ellie Goulding and London Grammar, as well as diverse talents such as UMI with V of BTS, Anuv Jain and Aurora.
Launched on April 18, the Spotify playlist currently boasts 15 tracks, with more to come as Sounds Right gains momentum. Among the available songs is a Nature Remix of Ellie Goulding's 2020 hit Brightest Blue, infused with sounds from the Colombian rainforest. Additionally, listeners can experience the 1995 collaboration between Brian Eno and David Bowie, Get Real, now enriched with the sounds of hyenas, rooks, and wild pigs. Anuv Jain's Baarishein offers the soothing backdrop of Indian rainfall.
All revenue generated through Sounds Right will be channelled through the conservation non-profit EarthPercent, earmarked for biodiversity conservation and restoration projects in threatened ecosystems worldwide. This fusion of music and nature not only enriches our playlists but also contributes significantly to the preservation of our planet’s precious natural habitats.
