Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo recently got together with their 13 Going On 30 co-star Judy Greer on a video call to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the fantasy romcom.
The movie led by the trio was released theatrically on April 23 exactly two decades ago. Garner played Jenna Rink in the film, while Ruffalo and Greer portrayed the roles of Matt Flamhaff and Lucy Wyman respectively.
The actors shared the Zoom call video on their social media with a nod to the fans who have supported them over the years “#13GoingOn30. Twenty years. We are three Boomers braving zoom—because we want to thank you. 👴👵👵 To every person who has loved this movie along with us: Thank You. We see you, we appreciate you and we love you back. Forever thirty, flirty and thriving! 💕” they wrote alongside the video.
The two-minute video call starts off with Greer trying to pose for the perfect thumbnail picture for their clip. She then goes on to thank the fans for watching and loving the 2004 movie.
Banter between the three actors continued throughout the video. Greer’s tech glitch prompted Ruffalo to jokingly say, “Judy, take the marbles out of your mouth.”
Calling themselves “boomers”, the trio talked about texting using old flip-phones, newspapers being the primary source of news and phone booths. Ruffalo also spoke about how his fan-base was split into two — the Hulk fans and the Matt fans — with the later group members outnumbering those in the Marvel superhero group.
Talking about their fans, Ruffalo also said a woman once told him that her friends and her cosplayed as 13 Going On 30 characters. Garner also shared that she met someone who named their daughter Jenna based on the film.
Ruffalo and Garner did their “clink Razzles” move from the movie where the characters used to clink the Razzles candy before eating them. Giving a behind-the-scenes recall, Greer remembered how they enjoyed Cosmopolitans during a scene shot at a bar.
Greer, Ruffalo and now Garner, who will star in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, were not the only Marvel Cinematic Universe actors in 13 Going On 30. Garner dropped the information that Brie Larson, who portrays Captain Marvel in the MCU, was part of the popular girl gang Six Chick in the romcom.
The trio performed the Thriller hook-step from the Michael Jackson song in the video and gushed about having “the best fans”. Before signing off, they posed with wide smiles with Ruffalo complementing his co-stars for always looking good.
Apart from the video clip, Garner posted two more short videos on her Instagram stories. The first one has the three stars tell all the 13-year-olds to “have faith” and just be true to themselves, while in the second video she talked about the charity Girls Inc. to which the three pledged to make donations.
