Bade Miyan Chote Miyan earns Rs 50 crore, Maidaan inches towards Rs 30 crore after Week 1

Ali Abbas Zafar's action thriller and Amit Sharma’s sports drama released on April 11 in theatres

Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff-starrer Bade Miyan Chote Miyan trumped Ajay Devgn's Maidaan in the extended first week of their box-office run, earning Rs 50 crore nett against the latter’s less than Rs 30 crore collection, according to trade figures from industry data-tracking platform Sacnilk.

Despite an opening day collection of Rs 15.65 crore, Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan has struggled to gain traction at the box office. The actioner minted Rs 7.6 crore nett on Day 2, followed by Rs 17.55 crore nett over the weekend. The film's performance remained lacklustre during the weekdays, amassing Rs 9.1 crore nett from Monday to Thursday, taking the extended Week 1 earnings to Rs 50 crore nett.

Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which shares its name with the 1998 comedy starring Amitabh Bachchan and Govinda, features Sonakshi Sinha, Ronit Roy, Manushi Chillar and Alaya F in key roles.

On the other hand, Amit Sharma’s sports drama Maidaan collected Rs 1.25 crore nett at the domestic box office on Day 8. Currently, the sports drama has amassed a total of Rs 28.35 crore nett domestically.

The film opened to a collection of Rs 7.1 crore nett (including paid previews) and witnessed a dip in earnings on Day 2 (Rs 2.75 crore nett). The Ajay Devgn-headlined biopic minted Rs 12.15 crore nett over the weekend, followed by Rs 6.35 crore nett in the weekdays.

Maidaan is a biopic on Syed Abdul Rahim, the coach and manager of the Indian football team from 1950 until his demise in 1963. Ajay Devgn portrays the titular character alongside Priyamani, Rudranil Ghosh and Gajraj Rao in pivotal roles.
