Guwahati, Oct. 6: The "happiest music festival" is coming to Meghalaya on October 21 and 22 and the organisers are making sure that getting to and from the venue isn't a hassle.
Over 20,000 people are expected to attend the Bacardi NH7 Weekender and the organisers, Only Much Louder (OML), have arranged shuttle services from Shillong to the RBDSA Sports Complex, Madan Kurkalang, in Bhoirymbong and back.
Festival-goers will have to board the Weekender shuttle from Polo Ground, Police Bazaar, or Fire Brigade near Assam Oil Petrol Pump.
"The idea is to encourage people to ditch their cars so that they don't have to go through parking hassles. All they need to do is board our bus. In fact, after the festival, they don't need to be worried about being too tired," a representative from OML said.
The buses will depart from these pick-up points at 1pm and the shuttle will return from the festival venue at 10.30pm.
"The bus ticket is valid only for the day and journey type it has been purchased for. It cannot be re-used on any other day or for a different journey. For one day the ticket is Rs 400. If persons with disabilities and mobility impairment wish to board a bus, they are requested to email help@insider.in with their information," the representative said.
From Shillong the festival will head for Hyderabad for the first time on November 5 and 6. Then, it will move to Pune on December 2 to 4. There will be no "Weekender fun" for New Delhi and Bangalore this time.
Some global names like Steven Wilson, Vertical Horizon, Wild Palms, Natty, Mr Woodnote and Lil Rhys along with Indian artists like Nucleya, Farhan Live, Undying Inc, Prateek Kuhad with local favourites Papon, Soulmate: History of the Blues, Dossers Urge, Imphal Talkies and many more will perform at the festival.
Commenting on the line-up, OML CEO Vijay Nair said: "Keeping the line-up of the festival fresh every year is one of the most interesting challenges we have while putting together the festival. The line-up is curated individually for all the venues, and this year, we're bringing fans some of our strongest line-ups yet. We know that music fans aren't defined by their love for just one genre, which is why we design our line-ups with the hope that not only will you find something you love already, you'll also discover your new favourites for the next few years."
Expect to witness the most imaginative stage designs, exquisite art installations, diverse food options and an eclectic bazaar where artists, craftspeople, DIYers and hobbyist entrepreneurs from all over the country will showcase their creative products.
