St Thomas’ Old Pupils Alumni (STOPA) organised the STOPA Cup Inter School Alumni Football on April 26 at their school football ground. This year is special for the Thomasites and Thomasinas as the school is celebrating the completion of 225 years.
“St. Thomas is the oldest school in West Bengal and the second oldest in the country. I will be completing 25 years in this school. The school has grown in leaps and bounds. We are proud to organise the STOPA Cup in our beautiful school ground,” said Lincoln Drewart, senior English teacher and an ex-student of St Thomas’ Boys School.
Seven teams took part in the tournament. The semi-finals saw St. Lawrence Old Boys’ Association, Albanite Alumni Association, St. James’ School Alumni Association and the home team, STOPA, fight it out for the cup. The home team and the Albanites made it to the finals.
Neither the bad weather nor the IPL match affected the excitement of the finalists, and the match ended with a nail-biting penalty shoot-out, with the Albanites taking home the trophy.
