Sunny Deol’s Gadar 2 crosses Rs 100-crore mark at box office, Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 inches closer to Rs 50 crore

Gadar 2, OMG 2 and RRKPK collectively minted Rs 73.5 crore at the box office on Sunday

Sunny Deol-starrer Gadar 2, Akshay Kumar’s OMG 2 and Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt-starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani collectively achieved the highest-ever single day earning for the Hindi film industry on Sunday, amounting to Rs 73.5 crore nett.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan held this record with its humongous collection of Rs 68 crore nett on Republic Day.

Leading the charge was Anil Sharma’s action-drama Gadar 2, which managed to rake in an impressive Rs 52 crore nett on Sunday. Gadar 2, which had registered the second-highest opening day collection for a Hindi film in 2023 with Rs 40 crore nett, went on to earn Rs 43 crore nett on Saturday. This took the film's three-day collection to a staggering Rs 135 crore nett.

Gadar 2 is the seventh Hindi film to reach the Rs 100-crore milestone at the domestic box office in 2023 after Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan, Ranbir Kapoor’s Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar, Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, Adah Sharma-starrer The Kerala Story, Prabhas’s Adipurush and Ranveer Singh-Alia Bhatt-starrer Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

OMG 2, featuring Akshay Kumar, Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi in pivotal roles, garnered approximately Rs 17.5 crore nett on Sunday. The Amit Rai-helmed social comedy film had an opening day collection of Rs 10.56 crore nett and minted Rs 15.3 crore nett on Day 2. The three-day cumulative collection of OMG 2 stands at Rs 43 crore nett.

Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani remained steady on its 17th day as it earned approximately Rs 4 crore nett on Sunday, taking the film’s overall collection of past Rs 130 crore nett in India.
