Handyman dies in collision

Shillong, June 15: A handyman of the Indian Air Force schoolbus (O4P- 016129H) was killed and three students were injured when a truck collided with the bus in Upper Shillong today.

According to police, the bus travelling towards Seventh Mile was hit by a truck (AS26C-1195) coming from the opposite direction at Third Mile around 2.55pm.

The 108 emergency service ambulance helped shift three injured students to the Shillong civil hospital. They were identified as Sinjan Chottopadhyay, 9, Akansha Kumari, 7 and Harsha Kumari, 6.

The others injured were administered first aid on the spot and released. The handyman who died on the spot is yet to be identified, while the driver of the school bus has been shifted to the Military Hospital for treatment.

Truck driver killed: A group of dacoits shot dead a truck driver hailing from Assam. According to police, a group of dacoits stopped a coal-laden truck at Wageasi in East Garo Hills at 9 last night and shot the driver, identified as Ramesh Subba, 29, hailing from Damra in Assam.

The police said the intention of the dacoits was to extort money from him.
