Bhubaneswar, July 29: The Orissa JEE (OJEE) authorities are all set to conduct a two-day spot admission procedure from two select nodal centres starting tomorrow.
This procedure is for students who are yet to register or those who have already registered but not turned up for verifications and choice filling.
“The spot admission will be held on July 30 and 31 at the VSSUT Burla, the College of Engineering in Burla and at the College of Engineering in Bhubaneswar.
Students who missed registration or the following procedures can make take this opportunity to register and verify during these two days,” said JEE chairman Deba Tripathy. Online registration, document verification and deposit of admission fee will be conducted on the spot.
The decision to go for a spot admission was taken by the policy planning body of the government.
The members met yesterday following the fall in the number of registrations this year. The Orissa private engineering college association had earlier expressed concern over the drop in the number of registrations this year. The PPB met yesterday as they anticipated another decline in admissions this year.
Only about 18,000 candidates have signed up this season. Hence, there are apprehensions about that admissions will see a drastic cut this year resulting in a huge number of vacant seats in several professional institutes. “Students who appeared for AIEEE will also be considered for registration, said Tripathy. OJEE officials have also extended the lock in deadline for engineering MBA MCA and pharmacy till August 2. Also, allotment will be published in August 5.
The Orissa private engineering association has called for the publicity of the new spot admissions. Earlier, OJEE authorities had tried extending the dates but OPECA raised an objection stating that it would not solve the purpose. The Association remained firm that steps should be taken to allow fresh registrations so that interested students can get chances.
